Loaded Questions

Oh, I long for the day when I don't have to have the kind of exchanges that I had today ...

New client - mom of a chiropractor that's one of my clients. Nice nondescript house. Maybe just a few too many bibles lying around (like maybe 50 too many) but otherwise normal. Then I get into their home office. This is on the wall:

Two cheesy photos with real authentic faux signatures. Nice. Be afraid when someone considers it a point of pride to have given money to George Bush.

Fast-forward about 15 minutes. Everything's going normal. Just fixing their computer. Then the lady comes back in the room and asks me some computer questions. She says that she heard on FOX News that terrorists could bring all the world's computer down at once. Trying not to sound too sarcastic, I comment that that sounds like something that you would hear on FOX. And then I try to soften my disdain by going into an honest discussion of the security of PC's, networks, the Internet, etc.

Next, she talks about some anti-spyware program. She says that it was endorsed by Michael Savage and asked me what I thought about him. I did say, "I'm not a fan" but I wanted to say, "He's a fucking clueless, racist, religiously bigoted hypocrite" who says stupid things like:

"I don't like a woman married to a woman. It makes me want to puke...I want to vomit when I hear it. I think it's child abuse."

... and speculated that Democrats had messed with Supreme Court justice John Roberts' health, causing his seizure.

Some days it's real hard to keep my mouth shut.

Apparently, this is what conservative commentators have been reduced to -- corporate pimps. I'd commented on that very same point back in January, talking about Michael Medved. They must be getting kickbacks.

If I were religious, seeing what so-called "Christians" really value would probably cause me to lose my faith. And if I were a Conservative, seeing how idealism is bought and sold for convenience, I'd give that up too. Kinda makes you wonder if anybody really believes in anything any more.

Ugh... that's a tough situation right there. I think people believe in plenty nowadays, they just are too intellectually lazy to think about WHY.

If that's what people are puting into their brains then why do they even have computers?

It doesn't make me lose my faith in God at all. It just helps me to see the very nature of man more clearly. Even the people that profess to follow Jesus and *know* his ways, can't see the forest for the trees, ya know?
How are you doing Lance?

"Even the people that profess to follow Jesus and *know* his ways, can't see the forest for the trees, ya know?" -- Don't worry. Not seeing the big picture certainly is not unique to religious people.

I'm doing great. Even better now that you have visited. How are you and family?

We're doing just fine. We are moving this weekend. We secured a rental in town (we're living 15 minutes outside of town right now). We are losing our house. We are doing a deed in lieu of foreclosure--giving the house back to the bank.
Which is sad--but not too sad. We have fallen on hard times as far as our real estate investments go. We couldn't have known that the housing market was going to crash as hard as it has and that our tenant from hell was going to suck us dry financially. So, we lost our asses on two homes--we're a statistic!
*laughing*
Ah well, being renters again sounds like a vacation from what we've been through.
Thanks for asking! How's your family?

Sorry to hear about the house. It's a real estate nightmare out there right now. We had thought about keeping our townhouse and renting it when we were having our house built. But we had heard enough horror stories like yours to scare us away.

I'm glad that you have a positive attitude about the whole thing. There's no point in trying to change the past. You just take it as a life lesson and move on.

Family's good. Alex is in his 3rd week of 1st grade and loves it. His class is split between 1st and 2nd graders. He reads so well that the teacher forgets that he's a 1st grader and sometimes gives him 2nd grader stuff.

Sorry to hear about your house Sadie... It's weird that there has been several news stories about it 'over here'. It seems so far away and remote - and then you find out that it's affecting someone you know..... It makes the world a much smaller place.

The *best* of luck with the future!

Thanks you guys. I miss my blog buddies!!
I actually have internet! The fetching Mr. Sadie Lou Who is a whiz when it comes to "hooking things up".
I feel very relaxed and non-stressed here in our rental.
I hope to be visiting more often. Good to hear that Alex loves school. I started homeschooling Ryan and natalie through a Charter School program. Ryan was failing the 4th grade--I think he has a learning disability that wasn't being addressed in public school. He was in a class of 32 students and he was drowning. I decided to take his education very seriously this year--so we'll see how it goes. If it doesn't work out--they'll be back in puublic school next year.
It's great so far! the charter School gives the kids 1,000$$ a year they can spend on classes. Nat is in Dance, computers, and art while Ryan is in Math Tutoring, Science and computers.
