We all got it coming ...

The Schofield Kid -- [after killing a man for the first time] "It don’t seem real… how he ain’t gonna never breathe again, ever… how he’s dead. And the other one too. All on account of pulling a trigger."

Will Munny -- "It’s a hell of a thing, killing a man. Take away all he’s got and all he’s ever gonna have."

The Schofield Kid -- "Yeah, well, I guess they had it coming."

Will Munny -- "We all got it coming, kid."

  1. Well, that's all rather depressing [grin].

Would you like me to increase the amount of 'feel good' posts on my Blog to compensate?

How's things over there by the way?

  2. Such a fabulous film. What a way to knock every fleck of sheen off an era. There are no heroes here.

  3. lol. What is really depressing is my infrequency of posting. Just spreading myself a bit thin over blogger, tumblr, twitter and facebook.

Things are good. Just finished Consider Phlebas. Banks is pretty much my favorite sci-fi author right now.

With me it's World of Warcraft... [laughs] At this rate I'm going to have to drop my book reviews to one a week....

Iain M Banks certainly rocks - though I'm half way through a book ATM that I'd think you'd really like called 'The Wind-Up Girl' - almost Cyberpunk and a little bit of Steampunk but mostly Genepunk....

  5. Wunelle said, "There are no heroes here". Exactly. I'm always irritated when people speak fondly of a time and think it was idyllic, not remembering how it really was (like Republicans about the Reagan years).

CK -- I haven't read a lot of steampunk (Gibson/Sterling's Difference Engine probably it), but obviously I love cyberpunk with Gibson and Stephenson being among my favorite authors of any genre. Who's the author of the book you mentioned?

  7. I have "Consider Phlebas" on deck. For quite a while now. Good to know you liked it; it may give me a push.

  8. Thanks CK.

Wunelle -- I've liked everything I've read from Banks. The Algebraist was my gateway drug into his world.
