Cheers

I've been about as cheery as the Grim Reaper on my blog in the last week ... deservedly so. But I thought I'd break the monotony a little bit and query my regulars for their list of favorite ways to imbibe. GWB brought up the subject of beer in a post and Laura, wine. Some of you hoity-toity, cheese-tasting, upper-crust types can list your wines. But mine will be 5 fave beers:

Guinness Stout
Stone India Pale Ale
Sierra Nevada Pale Ale
Dos Equis Amber
Mississippi Mud Black and Tan

I'm interested to hear yours, especially if they're regional favorites that I haven't had before.

My husband loves Guiness. I think it smells remarakably similar to something you pour into your car.

I don't enjoy alcohol that much. I can tolerate Corona with lime.

I also like froo froo mixed drinks like Midori margaritas and pina coladas. I like Fuzzy Navels and Hot Totties. There's nothing like my Mother in Law's Apple Pie drinks in the fall...
mmmm....

I'm a big fan of Bass and Harp too. I haven't had the others. And I do like wine, but I'm just a wine retard. I can't tell the difference between a $3 and $30 wine.

Sadie, funny you would say that about Guinness. My mom calls it motor oil. He-he. Needless to say, she doesn't share my like of it.

Eh, Winetards can enjoy themselves too - who cares if you know what "vintage" it is. If you like it - it's good. One of my favorite brands is Yellow Tail. It's good wine and it's $6/bottle. Wine doesn't have to cost a fortune to be good.

Much of what I drink depends on what I am doing.

Murphy's Red
Four Horseman Red Ale
Killians

Watchin the game:
Molson's Canadian Lager

Dinner with meat:
Molson's Canadian Lager

Dinner with Fish:
Labatt's (a very nice Pilsner)

Sitting around the cmpfire:
Woodchuck Hard Cider (amber or granny smith, never pear)

Canoeing, Yard work, or anytime you need something cold and crisp:
Old Milwaukee

There's not many I don't like to imbibe:

beer (proof that god or flying spaghetti monster loves us, and wants us to be happy (if she exists)):
-I like lawn mower beer after yard work(that would be the pale yellow domestic stuff)
- Stout is always nice. Guiness is nice, Sarnac is nicer.
- Pale ale - Sierra nevada, or eigth street ale (four peaks, local brewer)
- scottish ale - kiltlifter ( four peaks, again)
- Trappist ales - Chimay, etc. the weak ones are 7%, what's not to like
- I like to match the food to the beer. Kirin or Asahi with sushi, Spaten optimator with jagerschnitzel, Negro Modelo with mexican, etc.

Wine:
I'm not an Oenophile (or a winetard), but I like:
- off-dry whites like Rieslings
- chardonay with fish
- low-tannin reds are great, like Syrah, merlot, etc.
- Riunite Lambrusco is the soda pop of wine. It's what you think wine should taste like when you're a kid.

Cocktails:
Martinis. I like mine with grey goose or ketel one, bone dry, three olives, shaken with ice to below freezing, served neat. The new psuedo martinis like apple pucker, etc, are good, but they're not martinis.

Manhattan. To call this a frou-frou drink is to show that you've never had one.

I like lots of other mixed drinks, things like 'Ritas, Mojitos, etc.
